In het derde jaar van Kores, den koning van Perzië, werd aan Daniël, wiens naam genoemd werd Béltsazar, een zaak geopenbaard, en die zaak is de waarheid, doch in een gezetten groten tijd; en hij verstond die zaak, en hij had verstand van het gezicht.

In het derde jaar van Kores, koning van Perzië, werd er een woord geopenbaard aan Daniël, aan wie de naam Beltsazar gegeven is. Dit woord was waarheid en ging over grote strijd. Hij begreep het woord en hij kreeg inzicht in het visioen.
