Ik vond Israël als druiven in de woestijn, Ik zag uw vaderen als de eerste vrucht aan den vijgeboom in haar beginsel; maar zij gingen in tot Baäl-Peor, en zonderden zich af tot die schaamte, en werden gans verfoeilijk naar hun boelerij.

Ik vond Israël als druiven in de woestijn; als vroege vijgen aan de vijgenboom, zijn eerste opbrengst, zag Ik uw vaderen. Zíj gingen echter naar Baäl-Peor, wijdden zich aan die schande. Zij werden even weerzinwekkend als hun minnaars.
